Chris & Chinese food

This is Chris – my friend and flat mate during my final year at Sheffield. Having recently returned to London after a seven year stint in the USA, Chris is soon to move to Amsterdam where he has just been offered a new job! Congratulations Chris – I’m definitely on the first flight out there when you settle!

Today we caught-up over dim-sum in China Town at the New World Chinese Restaurant, which still offers a trolley service. I remember this as the restaurant of choice for all Chinese Wedding Banquets when I was little kid – endless courses of delicious chinese food (suckling pig, shark-fin soup, sea bass, roast duck, etc) which seemed to last for hours and hours. Definitely do not pass up the opportunity to feast if you are ever fortunate enough to be invited to a Chinese Wedding banquet!

On the way to the restaurant we passed this guy making a sand sculpture which I thought was really cool.

I love dim-sum. My favourite is the prawn cheung fung, which if you are not used to eating Chinese delicacies such as chickens’ feet and steamed tripe, is probably one of the safest options to order. After the feed we even managed to fit in a gorgeous chocolate moose at Patisserie Valerie in Marylebone.
