Nathan, who is a friend of a very good friend of mine is a choreographer / street dancer and wanted some photographs for his website www.thestreetproject.co.uk. I thought it’s be a great opportunity for me to get experience in shooting portraits, so I offered to take some photos for him. On Tuesday we met in central London and headed over to the skate park in South Bank. Tip: If you are thinking of using this as a shooting location it’s definitely worth getting up early and going in the week (obviously not when it’s half-term. The skate park was quiet and we had the whole place to ourselves. We also took a stroll to Borough Market in London Bridge to try out some different looks and locations. The Sun was shining and it was a lovely warm day – it was great to play around with the natural light as I didn’t bring a tripod or a flash.

Unfortunately, I had to shoot in jpeg as I feared I didn’t have enough room on my 2GB data card or my laptop; I took around 700 + photos that day (note to self: must purchase an 8GB data card and 500GB external hard drive)! It was great working with Nathan as being a performer he was excellent at striking those poses! Overall, was really pleased with the results and I think we definitely got some great photos for his website and my portfolio.

I just have to say that absolutely *love* my 50mm f1.8 lens.

I’m visiting my hometown this week and this time I made it my mission to get a photo of The Stump. I must have walked past this church a thousand times when I was growing up, but never once really stood back and admired this incredible building. Lucky I caught it on a good day really!

I was sad to hear that one of my childhood heroes, Tony Hart, had passed away. In honour of his memory, devoted fans organised a ‘Morph’ flashmob outside the Tate Modern Gallery.

Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2008

I had an invite to the preview of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year awards today, but sadly due to work commitments I was unable to attend. Boo! What a shame!

Anyway, click on the picture above to visit the website for the final results. I was extremely pleased to see that the Overall Winner used a Canon 350D – just proves that you don’t need to have a fancy, expensive camera to take fantastic shots. There’s hope for me yet!

Dr. Gunther von Hagens’ Body Worlds may not be for the squemish, but if you are interested in a mixture of science, anatomy and art then this exhibition is definitely worth a visit.

Cat managed to get her paws on two VIP preview tickets for last night, so we both headed over to the 02 Arena after work.

Dr. Gunther uses a technique called plastination to preserve real bodies or body parts; then they are exhibited in various poses to enhance the explanations of the functions of the bodies or body parts.

There was a fair amount to take in; having a fuzzy head after a full day’s work I’m sure I bypassed a lot of interesting information. The exhibit is open until August 2009 and I’m sure I will be visiting again.

Autumn has got to be my favourite season; I love the light and the colours that it brings. I’ve been taking walks in the local parks with my 28-135mm lens hoping to capture the beauty of Autumn before the the chill of the British Winter sets in.

I met up with Rita for lunch and coffee today in Greenwich. The weather was a bit touch-and-go, but I managed to take a few shots which I thought were ok.

I decided to walk through Greenwich Park – at the top of the hill (near the Observatory) I stopped to take in this view:

Luckily, the sun managed to shine through the clouds and I decided to walk all the way to Blackheath Village before catching the bus home.

The pitch that caught my attention on Monday night’s Dragon’s Den was for this website iFoods.tv. There are loads of recipes with easy to follow videos for whenever I am stuck for meal time ideas. Members can also load their own recipe videos – I may even be inspired to make video for my mum’s won-ton recipe or my dad’s tender beef recipe!
